Escape Tours of Kangaroo Island conduct private
4WD Island and
Wildlife Safaris for in-house guests staying at
Seascape Lodge. This exclusive combination guarantees both
the finest accommodation and tour experience available on
Kangaroo Island. With your personal naturalist guide
and exclusive use of our spacious air conditioned 4WD
vehicles, you have a choice of how long you wish to linger
at particular touring destinations as well as a tailor-made
itinerary to suit your particular interests or special
requests.
To ensure maximum understanding of the island's history,
wildlife and natural wonders your experienced guide provides
a fully interpretive, informative and entertaining touring
experience. Tours are conducted in English and language
guides are also available on request. Day tours include
BBQ or picnic lunches (special menus by prior
arrangement), refreshments, including Kangaroo Island wines
and Morning Teas. Tour duration is approximately 9 hours but
if you wish to enjoy a shorter day than this then just let
your driver know and he’ll adjust your itinerary to suit.
4WD TOUR EXPERIENCES
Kangaroo Island is a must see ‘Wildlife’ destination with
packages ranging from 1,2, 3 and 4 days. Certainly if
wanting a good wildlife experience at least 2 days touring
is required but the longer you stay the more there is to
enjoy!
Kangaroo Island is in the unique situation of having been
separated from the mainland for several thousand years. This
has meant that many of the issues that have impacted on
mainland Australia's wildlife populations have not been
affected here.
Kangaroos, Wallabies and Koalas roam freely
without the threat of foxes, nor do they compete with
rabbits for grazing land. These European species have always
been banned from the island and conservation parks were
established very early in the last century. This has meant
that much of the island is still, and always will be, virgin
bushland. A haven not only for our own unique native species
of
mammals, reptiles, birds and plants but also for
those from mainland Australia that have faced population
threat and been allowed to thrive here. Kangaroo Island
supports healthy populations of the worlds only two
Monotreme Mammals, the Echidna and Platypus. These unique
but illusive egg laying mammals can be found in various
spots around the island.
DESTINATIONS
Visit the spectacular natural formations of Remarkable Rocks
and Admirals Arch, within the Flinders Chase National Park.
Walk amongst a colony of Australian Sealions. See New
Zealand Fur Seals, Koalas, Birds, Wallabies, Reptiles,
endemic plant species and wildflowers. Look for Echidna,
Platypus and many rare bird species like the endangered
Glossy Black Cockatoo. Enjoy beautiful pristine beaches ,
clear blue ocean, rugged coastlines and travel down sandy
bush tracks to discover hidden wonders.
Kangaroo Island is also well known for it’s local artists,
many of whom have their work shops open to the public. Other
local attractions include pure Ligurian Bee Honey, Island
Pure sheep's Cheeses and Yogurts, Andermal Marron, a
Eucalyptus Distillery, Kangaroo Island Spirits and other
local wineries are certainly worth a look. Various walking
trails, conservation parks, coastal routes with breathtaking
views and secluded bays and beaches can also be included in
the itinerary. Maybe a Marine Tour that includes swimming
with a local pod of Dolphins or sandboarding at Little
Sahara might be something special for the children to
experience.
NOCTURNAL PENGUIN TOURS
After dinner we can also conduct nocturnal tours (Seasonal)
visiting the local colony of fairy penguins and other
nocturnal wildlife. Night tour duration is approximately 2
hours
